I wonder if the steering angle sensor could be a possibility too. If it’s not calibrated properly or malfunctioning, that could definitely impact steering assist.

That’s a valid point! Sensors can be tricky; if they’re sending inaccurate readings, it can throw everything off. Has anyone had theirs checked out?

Don’t forget to reset the system after checking everything! Sometimes a reset can resolve weird issues like this.

Don’t want to sound pessimistic, but what if it is a more serious hardware problem? Something like a failing steering rack could lead to this issue?

That’s a tough idea to swallow. I really hope it’s not that, but we should prepare for all possibilities, I guess.

I feel like there are so many factors to consider. If only cars could just tell us what they need, right? Anyone else feel that way?

Haha, exactly! I mean, I talk to mine like it understands me! Let’s just hope it doesn’t need therapy!

While some of this seems serious, it’s also encouraging to see so many of us working together. It makes troubleshooting feel less daunting!

Absolutely! It’s great to share ideas and experiences. I’m optimistic that we can find a solution here together.

I had the same issue with my 2018 Traverse recently. It turned out to be a faulty power steering control module. Replaced it for about $600 at a local shop. Definitely check your local mechanics first before heading to a dealership!

Did you have any warning lights on the dash? Mine was just blinking before it went completely out. Curious if that’s a common thing.

I also experienced reduced steering assist! I thought it was going to be a major repair, but it was just a bad battery cable connection. Cost me $50 to get it fixed at an independent mechanic. Don’t overlook the simple things!

Wow, that’s a relief! I was prepared for a big bill. I should be checking those connections before I dive into anything else.

When in doubt, try a DIY approach! I found a few YouTube videos that helped me reset the steering assist. It’s a bit tricky, but if you’re comfortable, give it a shot first!

That’s a great idea! Did you find the reset process pretty straightforward, or were there any surprises?

I went to the dealership hoping for quick service, but they took a week to diagnose it! Eventually, they charged me $900 for the new module. Very disappointed with the wait time.
