275 50R22 vs 285 45R22: Which is Better for My Chevy?

That’s a great point, Brandon! I have a Chevy Silverado; would those sizes work for it too?

I’ve found that the 285 45R22 might give you a slightly better ride quality being a bit wider.

I drive a Chevy Suburban. Are there any concerns with suspension setup if I go with the 275 50R22?

For the Suburban, 275 50R22 should fit nicely, but make sure you’re not too low. Suspension setups vary; check compatibility with your setup.

It’s worth noting that if you’re off-roading, the 275 50R22 might not give you as much flex as the 285 45R22.

What are the drawbacks of going with the 285 45R22? Are they more expensive?

They can indeed be pricier, but you mainly gain wider contact on the road, which may improve traction.

Glad to see this thread! I was debating between the two for my Chevy Colorado. Any advice specifically for that model?

The Colorado generally prefers the 275 50R22 since there’s more clearance. Just make sure to check your specific model year.

What’s the ride like with the 275 on the Colorado? Thinking about comfort versus sportiness.

Comfort-wise, going with a wider tire could give you a difference in handling, but the 275 still rides fairly smooth.

Your responses are really informative! I’m leaning toward the 275, but both options sound great. Could I experience any rubbing issues?

Rubbing can be an issue if your truck is lowered, especially with the 285s. Just keep an eye on your wheel’s alignment and suspension.

LOL, I always say, if in doubt, just add more air! But seriously, make sure to check the load rating too!

I’ve run both tires on my Chevy. The 275 50R22s handle wet conditions better, while the 285 45R22s offer a more comfortable ride. Just depends on your priorities!

That’s interesting! I’m leaning towards the 285s for better stability during cornering. Do you notice a difference in fuel efficiency with the sizes?

Fuel efficiency seems to be slightly better with the 275s, but not by much. I did notice a sharper turn response with the 285s!

I drive a mix of city and highway, and the 285s have kept me solid on the curves. Why not try both and see which fits your driving style? It can be fun!

I find a lot of chatter about these tire sizes in forums! What about snow traction? Either one perform better?

Well, I’ve only used the 275s in snowy conditions, and they’ve performed well. However, I haven’t tried the 285s in those conditions yet!
