Anyone else dealing with an 'evap system large leak' on their Chevy?

Lol! It might not be as effective, but hey, why not? You might get lucky and spot something!

I’m just hoping it’s not a major fix! The cost of repairs can be insane. Sometimes I wonder if we should just switch to bicycles instead.

Haha! If only it were that easy! But in all seriousness, I can relate to the repair cost pain. Keep us updated!

I’ve learned a lot from this thread! It seems like diagnosing this issue can really vary. I just want to make sure I’m going about it the right way.

I’ve had the ‘evap system large leak’ code pop up on my Chevy too! It turned out to be a loose gas cap. Double-check yours before diving deep into repairs!

Thanks for the tip, francisamber! I never thought a gas cap could cause that error. I’ll check mine today.

If it’s not the gas cap, consider checking the purge valve. My friend had a similar issue, and replacing it fixed the leak in no time.

Good call! I hadn’t even thought about that. Any tips on DIY replacement?

Replacing the purge valve is pretty straightforward. Just make sure to disconnect the battery first, and you should be good to go!

I had to replace my EVAP canister last summer too. Definitely not a fun job, but worth it in the end! Regular maintenance is key to avoiding larger issues.

Oof, that sounds rough! How did you determine it was the canister?

I listened to the hissing sound it made and saw a crack when I checked it. It’s a bit easier to spot if you’re looking closely.

Oh man, I’m dreading the idea of all this! Is it really safe to seal leaks with duct tape? Asking for a friend…

Haha! Duct tape won’t fix everything, but I guess it could work temporarily until you find a proper solution!

I’ve been considering using some sealant. Anyone had success with that approach? Tips would be appreciated!

I tried a sealant on my hoses, and it worked for a short time but eventually failed. Make sure to keep an eye on it!
