Anyone else hear a bad spark plug wire sound in their Chevy?

I never thought about the ignition coils! This really makes me want to check my wires ASAP.

Great point! How exactly do you test the resistance? I’m a bit new to this.

To test the resistance, use a multimeter. A good wire should show a resistance of about 6,000 to 10,000 ohms per foot.

Thanks for that! What about replacing them? Is it something I can do myself or should I go to a mechanic?

I recommend trying it yourself if you’re comfortable. It’s not overly complicated, just be sure to mark the order of the wires!

What if the noise continues even after replacing the wires? Are there other underlying issues I should check?

It could be the spark plugs themselves or even the ignition coils. It’s good to regularly check all these parts.

I did a DIY replacement last month, my car ran like a dream… well, until the next problem arose! :joy:

Haha, that’s the classic car owner’s dilemma! Still, good job on the replacement!

Just a thought: don’t forget to check your vehicle’s maintenance schedule. Regular checks can prevent these surprises!
