Anyone found the hidden compartment behind the radio in their Chevy Silverado?

Thanks for the tip! Are there any specific precautions I should take when disassembling the radio area?

Make sure to disconnect the battery first! It helps avoid any electrical issues. Also, keep track of the screws so you can put everything back together easily.

Good call! It’s better to be safe than sorry. I can’t wait to access that storage space and use it for tools.

What a fun little discovery! I’d recommend using small containers for organization once you access the compartment. It could be a great spot for emergency supplies.

I was surprised how much space there is! Just be mindful of what you store there; too much weight could cause issues down the line.

Totally! I placed my tire inflator in there since it’s light and useful. Plus, it remains out of sight, which is a bonus.

I found it too! Definitely worth checking out. But be careful not to damage the clips when you’re removing the radio.

That’s true! I ended up breaking one clip during my first attempt. Oops!

LOL! I’ve done that too. Just keep some extra clips handy for repairs. You’ll have a smoother process next time around.

Does anyone know if this hidden compartment is available in all Silverado models? I’ve got a 2018, but not sure about older versions.

I believe it’s mostly available from 2015 onward. It’s a neat feature for sure! Just be patient when unhooking the radio.

You guys are making me excited to try this out! I’m definitely going to document my process for others too.

Absolutely! Just remember, patience is key. It’s a fun project that can lead to some useful storage space!

I finally found the hidden compartment behind my Silverado’s radio, but wow, getting the panel off was a challenge! Has anyone else had stuck panels?

Yes! My panel was so stuck I almost gave up. I found using a plastic trim tool really helps avoid damage.

I had issues with reassembling the dashboard after accessing that compartment. Anyone have tips on making that easier?

Try taking photos of the assembly before you start disassembling. It helped me a lot!

Great tip, @johnholmes! Also, I noticed some clips can be very fragile. You might want to get extras just in case!

I had three clips break on me! If you’re careful, it’s usually just minor stuff. How did everyone else manage?
