Anyone found the secret compartment in a Chevy Malibu?

I recently got a Chevy Malibu and have heard whispers about a hidden compartment somewhere in the vehicle. I’ve always been a fan of clever storage ideas in cars, and this piqued my interest!

What I’m Looking For

  • Location: Where exactly can I find this secret compartment? Is it under the seats, behind the dashboard, or somewhere else entirely?
  • Functionality: How do you use it? Is it good for securing valuables, or is it more of a gimmick?
  • Tips for Access: Any tricks or tips on how to access it without damaging anything? I’d love to hear from anyone who has had experience with it.

Call for Experiences

If you’ve discovered this compartment, I’d love to hear your story. Maybe you found a hidden treasure, or it came in handy during a road trip. Share your insights!

Any Additional Advice?

Also, if there are any cool accessories or DIY solutions to enhance storage in the Chevy Malibu, feel free to drop those here too! It could be anything from organizers to cool aftermarket solutions.

Looking forward to your replies!

I found a secret compartment in my 2019 Chevy Malibu! It’s under the center console. You just need to pull up on the cover carefully. A flashlight is really helpful to see inside.

That’s awesome! I have a 2020 model. Is it the same for all Malibu years?

Great tip ymassey! In my 2018 Malibu, there’s also a hidden compartment behind the glove box. You can access it by pressing on the side. Makes for a perfect stash!

I’ve got to try that! Does anyone know if there are tools needed for that?

No tools needed! Just a little patience to press it in the right spot. But be careful not to pull too hard; you might damage the latch!

I almost broke my glove box doing that. Haha! So glad it worked for you, meagan92. I think checking the floor mats could also reveal something hidden.

What about the other models? Are there secret compartments in those, too? I’m curious if it’s a Malibu-only thing.

I think some Chevy models have similar ideas. I saw a Tahoe that had a hidden one in the armrest.

I never knew about the armrest compartments! I always thought it was just a myth. Do you know what tools are best for prying those open?

You just need your hands for the Malibu compartments! But if you’re trying to open something stubborn, a plastic trim tool can help without scratching anything.

I have to admit, this is becoming a fun scavenger hunt. Can’t wait to check under my seats and the center console now!

Good idea! I’ve got some tools lying around, so I’ll try that method next. Any common pitfalls I should be wary of?

Definitely avoid using metal tools; you can scratch or damage the surfaces easily! Just take your time and be gentle with the hidden latches.

I love that you all are sharing your experiences! Makes me feel like I’m not alone in this search. Can’t wait to discover what my Malibu is hiding! :joy:

Totally in the same boat! It’s crazy how many little nooks and crannies these cars have. Hope everyone finds something cool!

Just remember: the thrill is in the hunt! It’s a great way to bond with friends or family on a weekend too. Happy searching!

I recently discovered the secret compartment in my Chevy Malibu! It’s perfect for hiding valuables like my registration and insurance documents.

That’s a great idea! I was thinking of using mine for emergency cash and a first aid kit. What do others store in there?

I love the idea of emergency cash! I still have anti-theft concerns though, anyone worried about safety when leaving items in those compartments?
