Anyone here installed an LSX 454 intake manifold on their Chevy?

I’m looking for advice on installing the LSX 454 intake manifold on my Chevrolet. I’ve been considering this upgrade for a while now, but I could really use some insights before diving in. Here are some specific points I’d like to discuss:

Compatibility

  • Which Chevrolet models are best suited for this manifold?
  • Are there specific year models I should avoid?

Purchasing Options

  • Where are the best places to buy an LSX 454 intake manifold?
  • Are there any trusted online retailers or local shops you’d recommend?

Installation Tips

  • Do I need any special tools for the installation?
  • Are there common problems or mistakes to watch out for during the installation process?

Performance Enhancement

  • How much of a power increase can I realistically expect?
  • Any tuning recommendations after installing the manifold?

Experiences

  • If you’ve done this upgrade, could you share your experiences? Did you encounter any issues?
  • Overall, would you say it was worth the investment?

I really appreciate any tips or guidance you can offer. Thanks in advance!

That’s great to hear! I’m curious, how much of a torque increase did you notice? I’m looking to boost my low-end power.

I’ve been thinking about this upgrade too! Can anyone share if there are specific tuning considerations to keep in mind after installing the LSX 454?

Definitely! You should recalibrate your ECU post-installation. It makes a world of difference in how the engine performs with the new manifold.

Exactly! I had to tweak my fuel maps as well after the install. It’s all about getting that perfect air-fuel ratio for optimal performance.

I’ve heard mixed reviews about the installation process. Was it straightforward for you guys, or did you face any challenges?

It was a bit tricky for me. Make sure you have all the right tools and a good friend to help! It can be a bit of a tight space under the hood.

I love that everyone is sharing their experiences! It definitely feels like the LSX 454 intake is the way to go if you’re after serious upgrades.

No doubt! But are there any downsides to this manifold? Just trying to weigh my options here.

The only downside I’ve experienced is a slight increase in noise from the engine. But honestly, I’m all for that growl! Just be prepared for a little more attention from other drivers.

Haha, that growl is definitely an attention magnet! It’s all part of the experience, right? Just make sure your exhaust can handle it too!

I recently installed the LSX 454 intake manifold on my Chevy, and it was quite an experience! Make sure you have a good torque wrench and know the proper torque specs before you start. It really helps with the sealing.

Thanks for the tip, evanmarshall! Did you encounter any specific challenges during your installation?

Besides the torque wrench, be sure to have a quality gasket set. I’ve learned the hard way that a poor gasket can lead to vacuum leaks and headaches down the line.

Gasket set is a must! I also recommend using some gasket sealant to be extra safe. It can prevent leaks in those tricky spots.

Anyone have insights on what tools you absolutely can’t do without? I want to make sure I’m not scrambling mid-install.

I found that a ratcheting wrench set was invaluable for tight spaces. It made the whole process smoother.

Also, don’t forget about a good set of pliers. They really come in handy for dealing with those pesky clamps on the hoses.

What about tuning? Do any of you think a tune is necessary post-install? I’m unsure if I should go that route or not.

Definitely consider it! A tune can optimize everything, especially after swapping the intake manifold.
