Anyone know about no door Chevy wagons?

I’m looking into some unique Chevrolet wagons, particularly the ones that are referred to as ‘no door’ models. I’ve come across some intriguing designs, especially with the Chevy Nomad and other variants, but I’m not sure if they were actually manufactured without a door or if that’s more of a custom modification thing.

Questions I Have:

  • Do ‘no door’ variants actually exist in the Chevrolet lineup? Or is it more of a custom job? I’ve seen some cool images online but I can’t tell how common they are.
  • What are some potential pros and cons of owning a wagon like this? If they are modified, does it affect the vehicle’s structural integrity? What about safety?
  • For those who own one, what’s the experience like? I’d love to know how practical these vehicles are for daily driving or if they’re more of a showpiece.

Parts and Maintenance:

Additionally, if anyone has tips on where to source parts for these unique vehicles, or any specific maintenance advice, I’d greatly appreciate it. Are there common issues that come up with these no-door wagons?

Overall, I’d love to hear from anyone who has insights or experiences with these Chevys. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Hey everyone! I’m looking into customization options for my no door Chevy wagon. Any suggestions on aftermarket parts that could enhance its look and function?

You might want to check out custom bumpers and unique grilles. They can really make a statement on those wagons!

Also, consider adding LED lighting inside and out. It not only looks cool but can be really functional at night.

That’s a great idea! I’ve thought about vinyl wraps for a new look. Has anyone tried that before?

Vinyl wraps are awesome! They offer endless design possibilities without the commitment of paint. Just make sure to choose a quality material.

Good point! I’ve seen cheap wraps peel off after a few months. Any thoughts on modifying the interior?

You could swap the seats for more comfortable ones. Maybe even go for bucket seats with modern upholstery for a fresh feel!

Yes, some seats need custom brackets. I recommend looking into universal fit seats for an easier installation.

Speaking of fit, is there any good advice on suspension upgrades? I want a smoother ride with my mods.

Definitely look into adjustable coilovers! They can give you that smooth ride while letting you customize the height.

Hmm, coilovers sound fancy! Just make sure you’re not going too low unless you enjoy speed bumps like they’re part of your routine!

Haha, that’s true! But honestly, any upgrades are worth it for making your ride more enjoyable.

I love Chevy wagons! Restoring a no door model can be tricky. I had a tough time finding parts for mine. Have you checked with classic car salvage yards?

Absolutely! Sourcing parts is the hardest part for sure. I ended up joining a couple of Facebook groups that focus on Chevy restorations, and they were super helpful.

I’m also restoring a no door Chevy wagon! What model do you have? Mine has some mechanical issues, especially with the suspension.

Mine is a 1965 Chevy wagon! Mechanical issues can be tricky. I found that sometimes, just replacing bushings made a big difference.

Nice! I always say, it’s not just about restoring but preserving the original features too. How do you discuss that with parts suppliers?

Totally agree, hdixon! I tell suppliers exactly what I’m looking for, especially if I want original finishes. Anyway, anyone experienced with fabricating parts yet?

I’m not super experienced, but I know a local shop that does amazing custom work. Maybe consider finding one in your area?
