Best DIY Spray-On Bedliner for Your Chevy Truck?

What are some recommended brands for DIY bedliners? I’d love to hear your experiences!

I’ve had good luck with Herculiner; it’s durable and comes in a convenient kit. Just make sure to apply it evenly as mentioned before! Anyone tried Raptor Liner?

I’ve used Raptor Liner and loved the finish! It’s super tough once cured. However, it can be a bit pricey. Worth it if you want a quality outcome.

I just want to make sure I do this right. Is it necessary to use a primer for these spray-on products? I think I read conflicting info online.

That’s a good question, Kristin! Some brands advise primer while others don’t. I’d recommend following the instructions specific to the product you choose. It might be better to be safe than sorry!

I recently applied a DIY spray-on bedliner to my Chevy truck. To maintain it, I recommend regular washing with a mild detergent and a soft brush. This helps prevent dirt buildup and fading.

Great tip, ernestbarnett! I usually follow up with a coat of UV protectant to minimize fading. It works wonders in keeping the color vibrant!

If you notice peeling, I suggest using a heat gun to soften the edges before scraping the loose parts. Then, clean the area thoroughly and reapply the bedliner as needed.

I had that issue too! After scraping, a good primer layer helps with adhesion before reapplying. It’s made a big difference in my truck’s finish.

I’ve found that using a wax after washing helps keep dirt from sticking, making it easier to clean next time. Plus, it adds a nice shine!

I’ve never used wax on my bedliner! Sounds like a fun experiment. I’ll have to try that soon.

Make sure to clean off any rust before applying the bedliner, too! Rust can cause issues later, and prevention is key. What products do you all recommend for prepping the surface?

I use a wire brush followed by rust-inhibiting primer. Do you think that’s overkill?

Not at all, estradawilliam! It’s great that you’re taking those extra steps. Better safe than sorry, right? I’ve seen some DIY liners that look good but don’t last, usually due to prep mistakes.

When it comes to reapplying, I always recommend a light sanding of the old surface before adding a new layer. It really helps with adhesion.

That’s smart! I haven’t done that yet. Any other tips for reapplication? I’m all ears!
