Can OnStar Really Start My Car?

Definitely! My car struggled to connect when parked on the lower levels of a garage.

It seems like OnStar’s effectiveness might depend on where you are. I’ve also noticed that starting it from farther away takes longer.

Yes! I often feel like I’m waiting forever sometimes. Can they improve this?

I appreciate the advice so far. Support has been helpful, but I wonder if there are specific troubleshooting tips for these errors?

Try checking the app settings first! Sometimes notifications get turned off unexpectedly. It cleared up my issues last month.

That makes sense! I’ll try that next time I’m having issues.

I wish I could just say, ‘Start my car!’ and it worked, haha! But truly, the technology can be finicky.

I feel like OnStar is more of a luxury than a necessity, but it can be super convenient when it works. Is it worth the investment?

In my experience, yes! When it works, it’s a lifesaver, especially in bad weather.

OnStar’s remote start feature is super convenient, especially in winter! You can heat up your car before getting in. However, have you thought about safety? If someone can hack your system, they could potentially access your vehicle. That’s a big concern for me.

I hear you, lowemelinda! Convenience is great, but I would never trust my car to a system that might be vulnerable. I’ve read that some aftermarket systems are much more secure. Any opinions on that?

While OnStar offers functionality, I find the monthly fee a bit of a drawback. If you just want remote start, other systems might be more cost-effective without ongoing costs.

That’s a fair point, roberthardy! It’s important to weigh the value against the cost. There are definitely cheaper alternatives out there.

I love using OnStar for remote start when I’m running late. It’s nice not having to freeze while waiting for my car to warm up! What other systems can do this?

Dan, I totally understand! I’ve heard that systems like Viper are pretty popular. Anyone have experience with that?

Don’t forget about a scenario where you might unintentionally leave the car running. With OnStar, I guess you might have control over that, right?

Yes, dcox, that’s a good point. Remote start gives peace of mind when you can monitor the status of your car. That said, associating my main key with a service makes me a bit uneasy.

@lowemelinda, your concerns are valid. The whole hacking thing is real, but using strong passwords and two-factor authentication can minimize risks. Any tech-savvy folks suggest other precautions?

High-tech is fun and all, but I feel like we’re living in a sci-fi movie sometimes! I prefer a good old-fashioned key if it means less worry.

You guys are being so serious! :joy: OnStar’s remote start is like having a personal butler for your car! Just don’t let it handle the parking; that’s a whole other issue.
