I’ve recently been facing a perplexing issue with my Chevy Colorado. The temperature gauge seems completely non-functional, and to make matters worse, the engine fan is running continuously. I’m not sure if this is a sign of a serious problem or just a malfunction somewhere in the cooling system.
What I’ve Noticed
Temperature Gauge: The gauge doesn’t move at all, even after driving for a while.
Engine Fan: The fan runs constantly, regardless of the vehicle’s temperature.
What I’ve Tried
I’ve already tried a few things:
Checked the coolant level, and it’s fine.
Looked for any obvious wiring issues, but everything seems intact.
I even let the truck cool down and restarted the engine to see if it was a temporary glitch, but no luck.
Seeking Advice
I suspect it could be a faulty sensor or maybe the thermostat, but I’m not exactly sure where to start troubleshooting! Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do to resolve it?
Any Suggestions?
If you’ve run into the same issue or have ideas on what I should check next, I would greatly appreciate your advice. I’m hoping it’s something I can handle myself without needing to go to the shop.
I’m having a similar issue with my Chevy Colorado! The temp gauge is erratic, and the fan runs constantly. Have you checked the temperature sensor? It could be faulty.
The dashboard could be another culprit. If the wiring to the gauge is damaged, it might not read anything. Did you notice any flickering lights or other electrical issues?
Thanks everyone! I have so many leads now! I’ll keep you updated on my progress, hopefully, I can fix the famous Chevy temp gauge mystery! Reliving those high school auto shop vibes!
I had the same issue with my Colorado. The fan running continuously could potentially indicate your system is trying to compensate for overheating. If the temp gauge isn’t working, you might not get warnings until it’s too late.
