Help! My 2015 Silverado shakes at 70 mph, any ideas?

I’m experiencing a really frustrating issue with my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. When I hit about 70 mph, I start to feel a noticeable shake that makes driving uncomfortable and a bit concerning. I’ve done some initial research but would love to get insights from others who may have encountered the same issue.

Possible Causes

From what I’ve gathered, there could be several reasons behind the shaking:

  • Wheel Balancing: If the wheels are not properly balanced, it can lead to vibrations at higher speeds.
  • Tire Issues: Worn or damaged tires can cause uneven wear and may create shaking when driving.
  • Alignment Problems: A misalignment can affect how the vehicle handles, especially at higher speeds.
  • Suspension Components: Worn-out shocks or struts might cause the shaking, especially if they’re failing to absorb bumps effectively.

What I’ve Tried

So far, I’ve had the tires checked and rotated but the issue persists. I’m considering getting an alignment done next, but I wanted to check in with the forum first.

Seeking Your Advice

Has anyone else experienced similar shaking in their Silverados? What solutions worked for you? Any recommendations on what I should check next? I’m all ears for any advice or personal experiences you can share. Thanks in advance for your help!

I had the same issue with my Silverado! It turned out to be a simple wheel alignment problem. Make sure you check that first.

That sounds likely! Tire balancing can also lead to shaking at higher speeds. Have you checked that?

Don’t forget to inspect your suspension components too! Worn parts can definitely cause a rough ride.

Good point! I had to replace my struts, and it helped so much with shaking.

I’ve also heard that worn out tires can lead to this problem. It’s worth taking a look at their condition.

Exactly! And tire pressure should be checked too; it can affect stability.

If it shakes only at high speeds, could it be a driveshaft issue? I know that can sometimes cause similar symptoms.

That’s interesting! I didn’t think about that. I’ll look into it.

Definitely consider the age of your components too. Sometimes age can affect performance even if they look good.

That’s a great tip! I never thought about that affecting the shaking.

Have you checked for any loose bolts? Sometimes a simple tightening can solve these issues!

That’s a smart suggestion! I’ll check that next.

At this point, I’m just going to shake my truck myself and hope for the best!

LOL! That’s one way to do it! But seriously, it’s best to have a pro take a look.

I wonder if some people confuse shaking with vibration? It could be a different underlying problem.

That’s interesting! I think it’s important to define exactly what’s happening.

I had similar shaking issues with my 2015 Silverado. It turned out to be a wheel alignment issue. After that, the shaking was significantly reduced, especially at higher speeds!

That’s interesting! I assumed it was something more serious. Did you have to replace any parts during the alignment?

I had a lot of shaking too, and it was just a tire balance issue. Make sure your tires are balanced properly; it’s quick and relatively cheap to fix!
