I’m upgrading my '57 Chevy’s wiring harness as well. I recommend going for a complete aftermarket wiring kit. They usually come with everything you need and better instructions.

That could be a bad connection at the switch. Check the wire connections and make sure they are secure. Don’t take any chances with those lights!
Also, if you’re feeling brave, swap out the relay for the headlights; sometimes, the relays can fail after an upgrade.
