Halogen bulbs are the cheapest and easiest to find, but they don’t last as long as LEDs or HIDs. Still, they work fine if you’re on a budget.
True, but they also generate a lot of heat! I’d be cautious if you live in a warmer climate.
I’ve been using HIDs for a while. They offer fantastic brightness but need a bit of warm-up time. Just keep that in mind!
Exactly! HIDs are great for nighttime driving, but they can be more expensive to replace. Has anyone tried mixing bulb types?
It’s not too complicated if you follow a tutorial. I found a great video on YouTube for the Equinox. Just take your time!
Did you install them yourself? I’m thinking about going that route but nervous about the setup.
Thanks for the tip! I always prefer video tutorials over text explanations.
I just wish the process for Equinox headlights didn’t involve removing the bumper like in some models. Has anyone faced that?
That sounds like a hassle! Thankfully, the 2017 doesn’t require that. Just pop the hood and unscrew a few things. Easy peasy!
Good to know! What about where to buy the bulbs? Any recommendations?
AutoZone and O’Reilly have decent prices. I’ve also ordered from Amazon and got a set of LEDs for a good deal.
I trust AutoZone! They’ve always got what I need, plus friendly staff.
If you’re feeling cheeky, just replace the bulbs during a meeting drive. Bonus points for impressing your friends!
Changing the headlight on a 2017 Chevy Equinox is pretty straightforward, but sometimes the old bulb can get stuck. Use some penetrating oil if you’re having a tough time removing it.
I totally agree! But be careful with the connectors; they can be a pain to align correctly after replacing the bulb.
I noticed that after changing my headlights, the alignment was off. Ended up needing to adjust the housing, which added more time to the job. Has anyone else dealt with that?
Yes! The headlight assemblies can shift. A simple adjustment screw usually helps. I felt so proud once I got mine perfectly aligned!
I had a similar problem! The electrical connectors were loose. Just a slight wiggle did the trick for me.
Changing the bulbs was straightforward, but did anyone else struggle with getting to the rear of the assembly? My hands felt like they were stuck in a blender!
For real! I had to remove part of the battery cover just to reach it. What a hassle!
