I’m considering getting a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and I’ve been doing some research on gas mileage, but there’s a lot of conflicting information out there.
Can anyone share their real-world experiences regarding the fuel efficiency of different models? Here are a few specific areas I’m curious about:
Model Years: Do newer models have better gas mileage, or are there specific years that are more efficient?
Engine Options: How do different engine configurations (like V8 vs. standard engines) impact fuel economy?
Driving Conditions: What kind of mileage are you seeing during city driving compared to highway driving?
Tips for Improvement: Any tips or mods that have helped you boost your Silverado’s gas mileage?
I know that things like driving habits and maintenance play a huge role in fuel efficiency, but I would love to hear from you all. Your insights would really help me make an informed decision!
I can’t believe how much people underestimate tire maintenance! Keeping them aligned and rotated regularly can save you dollars at the pump. It’s a no-brainer!
I’ve had my 2020 Silverado 2500 for about a year now, and I’m getting around 12-14 MPG in city driving. On the highway, I can manage about 18 MPG. Definitely not the best for a truck of this size, but I love the power!
The 2017 Silverado 2500 actually had some good reviews on mileage, especially the Duramax diesel. It can hit around 20 MPG on the highway! What’s your experience with that engine?
I have the 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500, which is pretty similar to the 2020 model. I get around 15 MPG with a mix of driving. Definitely could be worse, especially for a heavy-duty truck!
Honestly, it totally depends on how you drive! I know people with the same model getting vastly different mileage, sometimes as low as 10 MPG due to heavy towing. What do you all drive mostly?
