Looking for 16 Inch White Letter Tires for My Chevy

I’m in the process of restoring my classic Chevy and I’m really interested in getting some 16 inch white letter tires. I’ve been doing a lot of research, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with this specific tire size and style.

Why the Interest in White Letter Tires?

White letter tires have this classic look that just screams performance and nostalgia, especially for Chevrolet models. Whether it’s for enhanced grip during drives or just for the aesthetic appeal, they make a considerable difference.

Factors to Consider

Here are a few things I’m considering before making a purchase:

  • Tire Brand: Are there any brands that are particularly recommended for Chevy trucks or cars that have a good reputation for performance and longevity?
  • Tread Design: Is there a specific tread pattern that works best for both highway driving and occasional off-road adventures?
  • Pricing: What’s a reasonable price range I should expect when shopping for these tires?
  • Installation: Any recommendations for shops that specialize in this kind of work, or tips on DIY installation?

Personal Experience

For context, I’m currently driving a Chevy that I want to enhance, so if you have similar experiences or can share photos of your ride with these tires, that would be awesome! I’m eager to hear everyone’s thoughts, suggestions, or even warnings about what to avoid.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I recommend checking out BFGoodrich’s All-Terrain T/A KO2. They’re durable and perform well in various weather conditions, especially off-road.

I’ve heard good things about the Goodyear Wrangler SR-A as well. Great for wet conditions and a comfortable ride.

Don’t forget about Cooper Tires! The Cobra GT has a more performance-oriented design. They offer good traction but might wear faster than others.

Totally agree! However, I found the tread life on the Goodyear to be a bit shorter than I’d hoped.

The General Grabber are also a good option for those seeking white letters. They provide solid all-season performance and are budget-friendly.

I just bought a set of Pirelli Scorpion tires. They have a decent performance in wet weather and look great on my truck!

How do they handle in snow? I’ve heard they aren’t the best in winter weather.

I’ve used the Dunlop SP Sport Signature tires before. They were great in dry conditions, but I had issues with grip in the rain.

So true! I found the tread pattern to be a bit slippery in wet conditions too.

Honestly, I just go with Yokohama Geolandar tires. They perform decently in all weather and have a cool vintage look when mounted.

That’s why I’ve been considering switching to a more aggressive tread pattern. It seems to help with stability.

What about the Michelin LTX M/S2 tires? They are pricier but last a long time and offer great performance.

Solid choice, but the price can be hard to justify if you’re on a budget. Try checking for sales.

Right?! It’s definitely a ‘tire-some’ topic for sure! Reflecting on it, my uncle had the best luck with his white letters in winter conditions.

I just put white letter tires on my Chevy! Make sure to check the tire pressure regularly. They tend to lose air if you’re not careful.

That’s so true! I also recommend getting a good alignment after installation. It really helps with tire longevity.

Great point, Henry! I always believed alignment is key. Anyone have tips on where to get a reliable alignment done?

Look for local tire shops with good reviews. It’s usually best to go somewhere that specializes in performance vehicles, especially for alignments.
