One great idea is to use modular dividers. They can be reconfigured based on your needs, plus they keep all your tools in place during transit!
I added some heavy-duty securing straps to mine. They work wonders for holding everything down, especially on bumpy roads!

I did add lights once, but they ended up getting wet and short-circuiting. Now I use portable LED work lights instead—much safer!
