I’ve been having some issues with the power folding mirrors on my Chevrolet, and I’m hoping someone here can give me some advice or troubleshooting tips.
What’s Happening?
Recently, I noticed that when I try to fold the mirrors in using the switch, they just won’t budge. At first, I thought it might be a fluke, but I’ve tried several times, and they refuse to cooperate. I can hear a slight click when I press the button, but the mirrors stay in position.
Possible Causes?
I’m trying to figure out if this is something simple I can fix myself or if I need to take it to a mechanic. Here are a few things I suspect:
Fuse Issues: Could a blown fuse be causing this? If so, where can I find the fuse, and how do I check it?
Wiring Problems: Is there a chance that there’s a wiring issue preventing the motors from operating?
Motor Malfunction: This could also be a sign that the folding motor is wearing out or has failed.
What I’ve Tried
I’ve checked the owner’s manual for any specific troubleshooting steps but didn’t find much. I also attempted resetting the mirrors (if that even exists) by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, but that didn’t resolve the issue.
Seeking Advice
If anyone has experienced similar issues with their Chevrolet’s power folding mirrors or has some tips on how to diagnose or repair this problem, I would greatly appreciate it! Any feedback on possible fixes or steps to take would be super helpful. Thanks in advance for your help!
I’ve also experienced issues with the mirror switch. If the switch is faulty, it can prevent the mirrors from folding. Testing the switch might help diagnose the problem.
If your power folding mirror isn’t working, start by checking the fuse. Locate the fuse box and look for the mirror fuse; replace it if it’s blown. This step can save you a lot of trouble!
I had the same issue with my mirrors last year. It turned out to be a wiring problem. I found a loose connection behind the mirror housing; I just had to reconnect it!
Before you go replacing anything expensive, try resetting the system. Sometimes, electronics just need a little reboot. Disconnect your battery for a few minutes!
