VIN vs Serial Number in Vintage Chevrolets: What’s the Difference?

I had an interesting time when my vintage Chevy passed inspection yet had a ‘ghost VIN’. It was a real head-scratcher! Turns out, it was an error on the inspector’s part.

That’s hilarious yet frustrating! Those inspection mistakes can really mess things up.

Sometimes I wonder if the inspectors just make it up as they go! Anyone else find those regular checks unnecessary?

I think they are important, but I get your frustration. There’s got to be a better way to verify things.

What happens if you’re trying to insure a vehicle and the VIN on the policy doesn’t match? Any advice there?

I had a similar issue! Not fun at all—my insurer needed documentation, which took forever to gather.

Anyone else here ever mixed up VIN and serial numbers when restoring a classic? That can lead to major complications!

Count me in! A mix-up in restoration can cause a nightmare with parts ordering.
