No kidding! I love the way it just launches out of the hole. What mods did you do to yours?

I’ve mostly stuck to bolt-ons for my 283. Headers and a carb upgrade made a huge difference in performance. It’s fun to tinker!

If you want to maximize the performance of any of these engines, tuning is key. I’ve done everything from timing adjustments to cam swaps!

Absolutely! What kind of gains have you seen from those cam swaps?

Honestly, it’s a mixed bag. Some days I feel the 327 is just as satisfying as the 396, especially in corners. Power isn’t everything!

Totally! Each engine has its own personality. It’s about what you enjoy most, whether that’s speed or handling. Just remember to enjoy the ride.

Well said! I tend to lean towards the 396 just for the adrenaline rush it gives me. Can’t beat that feeling!

Remember the first rule: Never underestimate the power of a well-tuned engine! Even the little 283 can surprise you on the highway if you set it up right!

The 1967 Chevelle offers several engine options: the 230 I6, 250 I6, 283 V8, and the powerful 327 V8. If you’re restoring, make sure to decide early on which engine you want. It affects every other aspect of restoration!

Great points! I would add that the 396 big block is also popular for a performance upgrade. Just beware of sourcing parts; they can be pricey and hard to find!

When rebuilding the 327, I found that using original specs for gaskets and parts made a huge difference. Don’t skimp on quality—your engine will thank you later!

Absolutely agree, joel64! I also suggest checking out local swap meets and online forums for good deals on authentic parts. It’s where I found my best deals!

Restoration can be a rewarding experience but expect challenges, especially with rusted components. I had to replace many of mine! A good tip is to invest in a quality rust remover.

Besides rust, don’t overlook electrical issues—1967 Chevelles can have tricky wiring. Always check the harness thoroughly during your project!

True that! I spent a whole weekend sorting out my Chevelle’s wiring. To speed things up, color coding helped me a lot!

One common misconception is that rebuilding these engines is too daunting. Take it step by step, and don’t hesitate to ask for help from experts or communities online.

Exactly! And documenting your progress with photos is a great idea. It helps remember where everything goes when you’re deep in the project!

If you consider performance upgrades, look into aluminum components. They significantly reduce weight and can really make a difference in handling.

I like how everyone is so supportive. But let’s face it, stock engines just don’t quite satisfy the speed demons! Who doesn’t want a thrill behind the wheel?!

Well, they do have their charm! But upgrading can be so exhilarating. Just be prepared to explain it to the purists!
