From what I’ve read, the 2017 models seem to handle better than earlier years, especially the transmission. It’s the 2015 and 2016 I’d definitely steer clear of.
That sounds reassuring! I’m considering buying a 2018 version. How are their reviews?
It’s hard to say definitively, but I haven’t heard many complaints about the 2018s. Just be cautious, as I’ve seen a few rust issues reported on some models.
I just love my 2019 Colorado! It’s been reliable and has great towing capacity. I’d recommend it over the earlier models.
That’s awesome! You make a great point about newer models being better. I still think about my dad’s old 2015 - it was a nightmare to maintain.
I agree with udixon about the transmission issues. I had a 2015 too, and the resale value took a significant hit after those problems came to light.
That’s something to definitely consider. It seems like the 2015-2016 models are more prone to issues than the later years.
Is it just me, or do the earlier models have more style? I get that reliability is essential, but I can’t help but admire those older designs!
Haha, I totally agree! I would buy a classic Chevy Colorado just for the look, even if it broke down every other week!
I think the 2017 and onwards are definitely safer bets for reliability. But keep an eye on resale value. The early models can tank pretty quickly.
Good point, ybutler! I’m in the market, and I really want something that keeps value over time. Any tips?
Buying a used model with fewer miles can help. Just be sure to check the history for any accidents, particularly with the 2015s.
Thanks for the advice, shelia98! I’ll definitely check those details before making a decision.
