Anyone tried 5th Gen Camaro Recaro Seats? Need Insights!

Introduction

I’m looking into upgrading my 5th gen Camaro’s interior and I’ve got my eyes set on some Recaro seats. I’ve heard a lot of positive things about them, especially in terms of comfort and support during spirited driving. However, I’m on the fence and would love to hear from those of you who might have made this upgrade yourself.

What I’m Considering

  • Comfort and Support:
I do quite a bit of driving, both daily and on weekends at the track. I really want seats that won’t just look good but also provide me with the comfort and security needed for both street and race conditions.
  • Installation:
I’m somewhat handy but not an expert, so I’m curious about how difficult the installation process is. Do I need any special tools, or will basic tools suffice? Is it a straightforward swap, or are there any significant modifications needed?
  • Price vs. Value:
Recaro seats aren’t cheap. For those who have made the jump, do you feel the price matches the performance and comfort improvements? Are they worth it compared to stock seats?

Questions for You

  • What model of Recaro seats did you choose and why?
  • How has your experience been with them since the installation?
  • Any tips or tricks you recommend for someone looking to install these seats without issues?
  • Where did you purchase yours? Any recommendations on places offering good deals or reliable services?

Conclusion

I’m really looking forward to hearing your opinions and experiences! It would greatly help in my decision-making process. Whether it’s a glowing review or something that might sway me in a different direction, I value all insights. Thanks in advance for your help!

I’ve installed Recaro seats in my 5th Gen Camaro, and it was quite the project! You’ll need to do some minor modifications to the seat brackets for a perfect fit.

What kind of modifications are we talking about? I’m hoping for a straightforward install.

You might need to drill some new holes in the brackets to align them properly. A torque wrench and a good drill are essential tools for the job! Got a torque wrench mentioned here can help avoid stripping bolts.

Mostly the seat tracks need adjustments. It’s not overly complicated but takes some time.

For tools, I recommend having a socket set, a ratchet, and probably some loctite on hand to secure everything once installed.

Time is definitely something I’m short on. Could I hire someone to do this easily?

Hiring someone could work, but make sure they have experience with Camaro mods. You wouldn’t want someone messing up your interior!

I had a shop do mine, and they charged a bit more than I expected. I wish I had the tools and know-how to do it myself, but they did a clean job!

If you do it yourself, just take your time, especially with the wiring for the side airbags. That’s where it gets tricky!

Same here! Serious respect to those who can install their own seats.

Definitely! The learning curve can be steep, but it’s satisfying once you pull it off. Are there any online guides you’d recommend?

YouTube has some great walkthroughs, but be ready for some trial-and-error. My first attempt took longer than expected – but I got there in the end!

Haha, that’s the spirit! I think I’ll dive into this with a buddy for extra hands.

I’ve had both stock and Recaro seats in my 5th Gen Camaro, and the difference is huge! The Recaros offer fantastic support during corners, which is a game-changer. Had to make the switch for track days; definitely no regrets!

I totally agree! My stock seats felt like they were made for a sofa. Recaros definitely hug you in place, which helps when you’re accelerating hard. Anyone else notice a big difference during spirited driving?

While the Recaros are amazing for support, I found the stock seats more comfy for long drives. Just my two cents! It’s about personal preference.

That’s a good point! I can see how some may prefer the stock option for commuting. However, if you’re into performance, Recaro seats really are worth the investment.

I’ve only used my Recaros for weekend racing, and they make a world of difference for me! Even for daily driving, they’ve never been uncomfortable, just different from stock seats, which are so bland.

That’s awesome! I’m considering upgrading, but how do they feel in stop-and-go traffic? If they’re too stiff, I might be hesitant.
