Can I use a CHAdeMO to CCS adapter with my Chevy Bolt EV?

I’ve been getting around 40 kW with my adapter, which isn’t bad considering CHAdeMO stations can be hard to find for a Bolt. Just be sure to look at the specs before purchasing.

I’ve heard that some users experience overheating issues with cheaper adapters. Anyone had that experience?

I haven’t had overheating issues, but I always make sure to monitor the adapter during charging. It’s good practice!

Totally agree, safety first! Has anyone tested major brands like Addon or EVSE?

The Addon adapter worked pretty well for me. I was hitting closer to 50 kW once, but it varies by station. Just keep expectations realistic.

I’ve been wondering, is it worth the price difference for the branded ones? Any financial comparisons in real-world use?

That’s an interesting angle! Overall, I think spending a bit more might save you trouble down the line. Quality matters!

A bit of humor- plug it in and hope for the best, right? Can’t be worse than trying to find a station with a working charger!

Haha! True, always a gamble! But hey, no pain, no gain, right?

I think it’s reflective of a broader issue in EV charging—accessibility. The more options we have, the better! It can only improve.

I’ve read that CHAdeMO to CCS adapters are generally compatible with the Chevy Bolt, but it’s essential to check the specific model you’ll be using. Make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for optimal safety and performance.

That’s great to know! Are there any particular brands of adapters that you recommend?

I personally use the EVSE compatibility chart to determine the best adapter. I’ve had good luck with the [Brand Name]. Just ensure firmware updates are done regularly.

Firmware updates? I had no idea! How often should I check for updates?

You should check for updates at least once every couple of months. Keeping your firmware updated can help eliminate bugs and improve charging speeds.

What’s the installation process like for these adapters? Is it a simple plug-and-play or more complicated?

It’s relatively straightforward! Just plug it into your Bolt, and the other end into the charger. Make sure everything is secure.

If you run into any issues, check the connections and restart the charging system. Sometimes, a reset can solve common problems.

You can use apps like PlugShare or ChargePoint to locate CHAdeMO stations nearby. Just keep in mind that some locations might not be up-to-date.
