Chevy Traverse Key Fob Not Working - Need Help!

I’m having a tough time with my Chevy Traverse key fob. It stopped working randomly, and I can’t seem to figure out what went wrong. I’ve replaced the battery, but that didn’t help. I’ve looked up some methods online to reprogram the fob, but they seem a bit complicated.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Battery Replacement: I swapped out the battery for a brand new one.
  • Reprogramming Steps: I attempted some reprogramming steps I found, but it didn’t work…

Things to Consider:

  1. Is it common for the key fob to malfunction after a period of use?
  2. Are there specific troubleshooting steps that could reset the fob?
  3. Anyone know if it could be an issue with the car’s receiver?

Additional Info:

  • Year/Model: 2018 Chevy Traverse
  • Issue Details: The buttons are unresponsive, and the door locks don’t react at all when I try to unlock or lock the doors with the fob.

If anyone has experienced similar issues or has suggestions on what I should try next, your input would be greatly appreciated! Maybe some video links or step-by-step guides that worked for you would be great too. Thanks in advance!

If your Chevy Traverse key fob isn’t working, the most common issue is usually a dead battery. It’s a quick fix—just replace it and see if it resolves the issue!

That’s great advice! I had a similar problem last month and replacing the battery fixed it right away.

Mine started having signaling issues after being dropped. Has anyone else experienced this? I wonder if it’s just a coincidence.

It might not be! Physical damage can definitely affect the key fob’s ability to communicate with the car. Have you tried resynchronizing it?

Yeah, you can resynchronize the key fob by inserting it into the ignition and turning to ‘On’ for a few seconds. It may solve the signaling problem!

It could be! Sometimes the internal components wear down. It might be worth considering getting a new fob if the issues persist.

Don’t forget about the possibility of interference! Things like nearby electronics can sometimes mess with the signal of the key fob.

Interesting point, brettcastillo! I never thought about interference. What kind of electronics could cause that?

Things like cell phones or even garage door openers can sometimes interfere with key fob signals if they’re too close.

Thanks for all your input, everyone! I have to say, if I can’t fix it, I’m going to start looking for a backup key fob. Better safe than sorry, right?

Hey there! If your Chevy Traverse key fob isn’t working, the first step is to check the battery. You’ll need a CR2032 battery for most models. Here’s a step-by-step guide: 1) Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the fob. 2) Remove the old battery and insert the new one, ensuring the ‘+’ side is facing up. 3) Snap it back together. Voila!

Thanks for the tips! I’m glad to know it just takes a CR2032 battery. I’ll try this tonight and hopefully, I’ll be back in my car in no time!

I had the same issue last week. After replacing the battery, make sure you check if any components inside the fob are loose. Sometimes, that might be the reason it doesn’t work! Good luck!

That’s a good point! I wouldn’t have thought about checking for loose parts. Fingers crossed that’s not my issue!

If you’re still having trouble, sometimes reprogramming the fob can help. Simply insert the key into the ignition, turn it to ‘on’ without starting the engine, and push any button on the fob. It just takes a few seconds and can refresh the connection!

I really appreciate everyone’s advice! I just want my fob to work again without spending a fortune at the dealer. This community is so helpful!

Interesting! I didn’t realize I could reprogram it myself. Is it really that simple?

Oh yes! It’s super easy. Just follow the steps and you should be good to go. It’s amazing how often a little reprogramming can solve the problem. Just don’t lose the fob in the couch again!

That’s a great reminder! I definitely have a habit of misplacing mine. Maybe leave a string attached? Just kidding—hopefully, the battery fix does it for you all!
