How to Stop My Podcast from Auto-Playing in My Chevy!

I recently ran into an issue where my podcasts automatically start playing every time I get into my Chevrolet, and it’s driving me crazy! If anyone has experienced this and knows how to get that annoying feature to stop, I would really appreciate your advice. Here’s what I’ve tried so far and some things I’d love to explore together:

1. Check Infotainment Settings

Make sure you dive into your Chevrolet’s infotainment system settings. Look for any options related to media or audio playback. There might be a toggle for automatic playback or something similar that you can disable.

2. Phone Settings

  • iPhone Users: Go to Settings > Bluetooth > tap on your car > and see if there’s a feature for auto-connect or similar. Also, check the Podcasts or Music app settings.
  • Android Users: Go to Settings > Connected devices > Bluetooth > tap on your car’s name and look for any auto-play options.

3. Unpair and Re-pair

Sometimes the connection may be the issue. Try unpairing your phone from the car and pairing it again. It often resets any default settings that might be causing this problem.

4. Check for Updates

Ensure both your car’s infotainment system and your phone are fully updated. Sometimes bugs can cause issues with automatic playback, and updates typically address these.

5. Third-Party Apps

If you’re using any third-party podcast apps, check their settings too. There might be an option within those apps that controls auto-play features when connecting to Bluetooth.

6. Contact Chevrolet Support

If all else fails, reaching out to Chevrolet support could provide insight. They may have specific solutions based on your car model or software version.

If you have any tips or tricks that have worked for you, please share! Thanks in advance for your help!

I had the same issue with my Chevy! You can usually stop auto-play by changing settings in your podcast app. For example, in Apple Podcasts, go to Settings and disable ‘Auto-Play’.

That’s great to know! I’ll check Apple Podcasts. But what about Spotify? Anyone know how to change that?

In Spotify, go into Settings, then Playback, and turn off ‘Autoplay’. It worked wonders for me!

Thanks, that’s super helpful! What about if my phone still tries to pick up the podcast even after I’ve changed those settings?

Make sure to disable Bluetooth audio in your phone’s settings before connecting to the car. Sometimes, it can still trigger those settings even with apps disabled.

Don’t forget to check if your car’s infotainment system has any settings that might override your phone’s preferences! I had to dig through mine to find it.

How do I do that exactly? I’m not great with tech.

On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth. Find your Car’s device and select the option to disconnect audio. It should help curb the auto-play.

I actually find this auto-play feature hilarious sometimes. Just imagine a serious podcast being interrupted by a pop song! :joy:

Haha! That’s too funny! I just want to avoid those awkward moments, though. Any other tips?

Reflecting on this, it really feels like auto-play doesn’t consider context. A podcast on deep philosophy should not suddenly switch to pop music!

Lol, exactly! But seriously, does anyone have an answer for Android users? I haven’t found a solution yet.

For Android, check the settings in your podcast app under playback options. There’s usually an option to manage auto-play settings there.

Have you checked the settings in Apple Podcasts? You can turn off auto-play by going to Settings > Podcasts and disabling the auto-play feature.

Great tip! In Spotify, there’s also an option to turn off auto-play under Settings > Playback. It’s super helpful for car rides!

I had the same issue! In Pocket Casts, go to your settings and look for the playback settings. You should find a toggle to disable auto-play.

Nice! That worked for me. You can also check your car’s infotainment settings; they sometimes have auto-play options too.
