That’s impressive! It sounds like your highway habits are solid. Maybe try driving at lower speeds in the city to help boost mileage?
I’ve had my 2014 Silverado 1500 for a few years now. I generally average around 18-20 MPG combined, which is decent for a full-size truck. It’s on par with others like the Ford F-150.
That sounds pretty solid, Connie! My buddy’s RAM 1500 gets about 19 MPG. It seems like most full-size trucks are in that range. Anyone got feedback on the Tundra’s mileage?
I think the 2014 Chevy Silverado does better compared to the Tundra, which only gets about 13-15 MPG. The Silverado feels more fuel-efficient, especially for city driving.
I am considering the Silverado, but I’ve been hearing mixed reviews about its fuel economy. Is the 5.3L engine noticeably better than the 6.2L?
Actually, the 5.3L generally gets better mileage, around 20-22 MPG highway. The 6.2L is powerful but sacrifices some fuel economy.
I love my Silverado, but I do find that the actual mileage can vary greatly with driving conditions. On the highway, I sometimes see 22 MPG, which is great, but city driving can drop it to 15 MPG.
That’s pretty typical for full-size trucks! I reckon the driving style plays a big role too.
I’ve been thinking about switching to a Silverado. How does its fuel economy measure up when compared to the Colorado? Anyone have experiences?
The Colorado does tend to have better mileage, usually around 22-25 MPG combined. It’s smaller, though, so it might not have the same hauling capacity.
I’ve always found these comparisons amusing. Everyone talks about gas mileage until they’re actually loading up their trucks with gear for a weekend trip! Fuel economy is important but so is capacity!
