Looking for the Best Light Bar for My 2017 Silverado!

Seeking Recommendations for Light Bars

I’m in the market for a light bar to install on my 2017 Chevrolet Silverado and would love to get some feedback or reviews from fellow Silverado owners.

What I’m Looking For

I’m primarily interested in finding a light bar that will enhance visibility during nighttime driving, particularly for off-road adventures. Here are some specifics I’m considering:

  • Compatibility: It has to fit perfectly with my 2017 Silverado.
  • Brightness: I want something that lights up the surroundings well, especially in dark or wooded areas.
  • Durability: Since I’ll likely be using it off-road, I need something that can withstand harsh conditions.
  • Installation: I’m not a pro when it comes to installations, so I’d prefer something with straightforward mounting options or good instructions.

Things I’m Not Sure About

  • Brand Recommendations: Are there any brands you swear by?
  • Wattage/Power: What wattage do you think I should consider for optimal brightness without draining my battery?
  • Price Points: What’s a reasonable price for quality light bars?

Share Your Experiences!

If you’ve installed a light bar on your Silverado, please share your experiences. Include any tips on installation, performance, or anything else that could help me make my decision. I appreciate any insights you can provide as I want to make the best choice possible for my truck!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I’m considering a light bar for my 2017 Silverado too! I’m curious about the installation process. Any specific brands you all recommend?

Check out Rigid Industries! Their bars are high-quality and pretty easy to install. Just ensure you have the right wiring harness.

Installation takes time! Make sure to watch some YouTube tutorials, especially for the wiring part. It’s totally worth it for the glow at night!

Great point! I learned a lot from tutorial videos. I went with a cheaper brand since I wasn’t sure, but I might consider upgrading now.

I had some challenges fitting one in the front grille. You may want to consider brackets if you’re going that route. Just a thought!

Thanks, zcummings! I hadn’t thought of that. Are there specific brands you recommend for brackets?

I found install kits on Amazon that were pretty good! Just read the reviews first. It helps guide you on what does or doesn’t fit well.

Honestly, just take your time. I rushed mine and ended up with a loose bar that rattled. Now I have to redo it!

I feel you, Jess! Patience really is key in installations, or you’ll end up making it more difficult for yourself.

For wiring, I suggest using heat-shrink connectors. They’ll keep everything nice and sealed, which is super important.

Absolutely! Those connectors saved my wiring. Plus, they add a level of durability that’s much needed.

I was worried about the legality of light bars in my area. Anyone know if they’re acceptable on the road?

It varies by state! Check your local laws before installing one just to be safe. I’ve seen some fines issued!

I’m also looking for a light bar for my '17 Silverado. I’ve heard a lot about the RIGID SR-Series. Anyone have experience with its brightness and beam pattern?

The RIGID SR-Series is great! Super bright with a nice spot-flood combo beam. It really lights up the road ahead for night off-roading.

The RIGID lights are definitely the best, but the price can be steep. Have you guys looked at cheaper options like Nilight? What do you think?

I’ve tried Nilight and honestly, they’re pretty solid for their price! They have a good brightness, but if you go off-road often, I’d recommend investing more for durability.

How about the Auxbeam light bars? They seem popular and are reasonably priced. Does anyone know how their beam pattern compares?

I’ve had the Auxbeam light bar for a year. It’s bright but the beam pattern isn’t as focused as RIGID or KC. Great for general use but maybe not for serious off-roading.
