Need Help with 1957 Chevy Engine Mounts!

I found a PDF online! Just search for ‘1957 Chevy service manual’—it’s a life-saver! And good luck, everyone! You got this!

Hi everyone! I’m struggling with excessive vibration in my '57 Chevy’s engine. Could this be a sign of worn engine mounts? Any advice would be appreciated!

Hey, whitecurtis! Yes, worn engine mounts could definitely lead to vibration. Check if they are cracked or sagging; replacing them might fix the issue.

I had a similar problem with misalignment when I first got my '57 Chevy. Tightening the bolts usually helped! But if it’s worn out, you may need new mounts altogether.

Great tip, rmitchell! I’ve found that sometimes just re-torquing the bolts can make a difference! It’s worth checking if that could be your issue, whitecurtis.

I recommend looking at aftermarket mounts as well. Some can provide better vibration dampening. What are you currently using?

Well, I have to say, after upgrading to the polyurethane mounts, my Chevy feels a lot more solid, but it does transmit more vibration. It’s a trade-off. Just some food for thought!

That’s interesting, contrerasdanielle! Did the upgrade improve handling? I might consider it if it aids performance even slightly.

It absolutely did! The engine feels much more connected to the car. Just remember that the increased noise might not be for everyone!

I love this discussion! Just a little reminder to stay calm and not get too caught up in the vibration drama—your Chevy is still a classic regardless! Anyone else ever tried a balancing job?
