What’s the Best Cold Air Intake for a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500?

I’ve been thinking about upgrading my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 and I really want to improve the airflow and engine performance. I’ve heard that adding a cold air intake can make a huge difference in horsepower, throttle response, and even fuel efficiency.

Why Go for a Cold Air Intake?

Upgrading to a cold air intake is one of the most popular modifications among truck enthusiasts. Here’s why:

  • Enhanced Performance: A cold air intake helps to increase the amount of cold air going into the engine, which can lead to improved combustion and ultimately, better performance.
  • Better Fuel Efficiency: Some users report a slight increase in miles per gallon after installing a cold air intake.
  • Improved Sound: Not to mention, the throaty roar of the engine when you hit the gas can be incredibly satisfying.

What to Look For?

When searching for the best cold air intake for my Silverado, I’d like to know:

  • Ease of Installation: I’m looking for something straightforward that I can potentially install myself.
  • Price Point: What are some reasonable options? I’m not looking to break the bank but still want quality.
  • User Reviews: I want to hear from fellow Silverado owners about their experiences and recommendations.

Recommendations?

If you’ve installed a cold air intake on your 2017 Silverado 1500, I’d love to hear what you went with and how it’s worked out for you. Any tips, links to products, or installation advice would be greatly appreciated! Let’s help each other find the best options out there!

I’ve installed the K&N Cold Air Intake on my 2017 Silverado, and I’ve noticed a significant increase in throttle response. It’s like the truck is much more eager to accelerate now! Horsepower feels improved, too, maybe 10-15 HP gain.

That’s great to hear! I was considering K&N too. Have you noticed any change in fuel economy?

I’ve got the Spectre Cold Air Intake, and while I can’t say I’ve tracked exact HP gains, I totally feel the boost in torque, especially at low RPMs. It really helps with towing heavy loads!

I’ve heard mixed reviews about various brands. I’ve got the AFE Cold Air Intake, and honestly, I noticed better throttle response but just a slight increase in HP. It might not be the best if you’re aiming for maximum performance.

Hmm, that’s interesting. How does it sound? I’ve read some intakes can make a nice growl.

It definitely sounds better! A bit more aggressive, but not overly loud. Just the right balance, in my opinion. It’s a nice touch to enjoy that sound while driving my truck!

I’m still on the fence about getting a cold air intake. I’m curious if anyone has used a budget option and still saw performance gains? I’m wondering if they make a difference.

You might be surprised! I had a budget intake before upgrading to K&N, and I could still tell a difference, although K&N is on another level!

Funny enough, I initially got a cheap one just to play around, and while there were improvements, it wasn’t anything like what I got from the higher-end models. But hey, at least I had a good excuse to upgrade later on!

So true! Sometimes you really do get what you pay for. But can anyone say if these improvements really translate to everyday driving?

I’ve installed a K&N cold air intake on my 2017 Silverado, and the process was fairly straightforward. I did face some challenges aligning the intake with the factory components. Overall, though, it was a solid upgrade! Highly recommend it.

I had the same issue! For me, it was mostly about fitting the tubing correctly. It took a couple of tries to get it snug without kinking.

I tried the Spectre Performance intake. Installation was easy, but I had to modify the heat shield slightly to ensure a tight fit. The sound it produces is absolutely thrilling!

Great to hear! I’m in the market and wondering if that modification affects the warranty at all?

I purchased the AFE intake system. It took about an hour for installation, but I needed a few extra tools. The performance boost was immediate, so I’d recommend it if you’re looking for refinement without too much hassle!

That sounds promising! Did you notice any changes in fuel economy too?

Yes, actually! Fuel economy has improved slightly, especially on the highway. I’d say go for it if you want both sound and efficiency.

On the contrary, I went with a Volant intake and didn’t get the gains I expected. Installation was smooth, but there was a compatibility issue with my factory airbox that required improvising.

I think compatibility issues are a common theme with aftermarket parts. Did you reach out to their support?
