Anyone tried the Magnaflow 22 Inch Muffler for their Chevy?

I’m considering upgrading the exhaust on my Chevrolet, and I’ve come across the Magnaflow 22 inch muffler. I’ve heard great things about it in terms of sound improvement and potential performance boost. However, I want to know more before making the purchase.

What I want to Know:

  • Compatibility: Is this muffler compatible with different Chevy models? I have a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, and I’m not sure if it will fit without additional modifications.
  • Installation: How difficult is it to install? Can I do it myself, or is it best to have a professional handle it? Also, does it require any special tools?
  • Performance and Sound: What actual performance improvements have you noticed? I’m really looking for a deeper sound and a bit more horsepower. Does it deliver?
  • Pricing: What’s the average price you’ve seen for this muffler? Any recommendations on where to buy it, or should I be cautious of cheaper options?

Additional Thoughts:

I’ve read mixed reviews online, so I’m curious about the real-world experiences of fellow Chevy owners. Please share your insights or advice if you’ve made this upgrade. Thanks!

I’ve installed the MagnaFlow 22 inch muffler on my Chevy, and it was pretty straightforward. You’ll need basic tools like a wrench set, hacksaw, and clamps. Don’t forget to have a jack and stands for safety!

Good tips, itaylor! Also, ensure your Chevy is cool before starting the install. Working on hot parts can be dangerous!

I’d suggest having a friend help you out. Having an extra set of hands makes it easier to hold the muffler in place while you tighten everything up. Plus, it can turn into a mini-adventure!

Agreed! Just be sure to communicate well. It’s easy to drop tools under the car if you’re not paying attention!

To avoid common mistakes, double-check your measurements before cutting any pipes. It’s better to measure twice than cut once. Trust me on this!

Such good advice! Also, using the right size clamps is crucial for a snug fit—too loose or tight can cause problems.

If you’re not comfortable with cutting and welding, it might be better to let a pro handle it. A muffler shop can do it quickly and correctly.

While those shops do good work, I always feel a sense of accomplishment when I can do it myself. But safety first!

Does the muffler give your Chevy a noticeable sound improvement? I’m curious if it’s worth the effort for those of us considering this upgrade.

Absolutely! It gives it a deeper tone. Just be aware, it can be a bit loud for some people’s liking.

Just remember, laughter is the best medicine. If you mess up your installation, just blame it on a ‘custom sound’!

I’ve had the Magnaflow 22 inch muffler on my Chevy for about six months now. The performance boost is noticeable, and the sound is deep without being overly loud. Definitely a solid choice!

That sounds great! How does it compare to other mufflers you’ve had? I’m curious about the durability too.

I had a Flowmaster on my Chevy before switching to the Magnaflow 22 inch. Honestly, the Magnaflow’s sound is much richer, and I feel the acceleration has improved as well.

It’s been fantastic for me. I’ve hit some tough conditions and it hasn’t shown any signs of wear. The durability is definitely impressive for the price you pay.

That’s good to hear! I love a nice deep growl. How’s the build quality hold up over time?

What about the drone at highway speeds? That’s my biggest concern with aftermarket mufflers.

Sounds like a good option. Has anyone done a side-by-side comparison, though? I want to know how it stacks up against Borla.

I had Borla before going with Magnaflow, and honestly, I think Magnaflow gives a better deep tone, but Borla has some edge in terms of finish.
