Chevy Traverse Screen Frozen - Need Help Fast!

I’ve been having a frustrating issue with my Chevy Traverse where the infotainment screen has completely frozen. I’ve tried everything I can think of and I’m hoping someone here can help me out!

What I’ve Tried:

  • Soft Reset: Held down the power button for 10 seconds, but nothing happened.
  • Hard Reset: Disconnected the battery for a bit, but still no luck.
  • Check for Updates: Tried to see if there were any available updates for the system, but the screen won’t respond.

Symptoms:

  • The screen is completely unresponsive.
  • No audio controls, navigation, or phone connectivity.

Questions:

  1. Have any of you experienced this issue?
  2. What solutions worked for you?
  3. Any tips on getting in touch with Chevrolet support for this?

I’m really hoping to find a quick fix as it’s super inconvenient. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve had the same problem! First thing to try is resetting the infotainment system. Just hold down the power button for about 10 seconds, and see if that clears it up.

Thanks for the tip, kenneth89! I’ll try that. I wonder if this is a common issue with the Traverse? Anyone else faced it?

Definitely check your battery voltage too. A weak battery can cause electrical issues, including a frozen screen. Might save you a trip to the dealer!

Good point, anthonywilliams! Sometimes we overlook the simple stuff. Anyone know where I can check battery status on the Traverse?

You can usually check the battery health with a multimeter. Just make sure the reading is above 12.4 volts! That should give you a good idea.

Thanks, maciasjohn! I don’t have a multimeter but might borrow one. What about software updates? Could that help too?

Yes! It’s crucial to keep your infotainment system updated. Check the Chevy website for the latest software updates specific to the Traverse. It’s often overlooked!

I’ll do that, thanks nrios! But I had my software updated recently. Does that automatically mean it’s working fine?

Not always! Sometimes updates can have bugs themselves. It might be worth looking at forums for reports after an update.

And if all else fails, call Chevy support! They can provide you with specific troubleshooting based on your model year. Don’t let this freeze ruin your day!

Good idea, ericsmith! But man, what a hassle. Can’t imagine how many bugs they must be dealing with!

Look at the bright side, at least we have each other on this forum! Nothing like a frozen screen to remind us that technology is not perfect. Laugh it off!

I’ve had a similar issue with my Chevy Traverse! It turned out to be a software glitch. Have you tried resetting your screen/system? That might help!

I echo what Vanessa said! Sometimes a simple reset can work wonders. Have you updated your software recently? Outdated versions can lead to freezing issues.

Also, check if your phone is causing connection issues with Bluetooth! My screen froze every time I tried using Apple CarPlay until I reconnected.

Wow, I didn’t think about the Bluetooth issue! That’s pretty interesting. Has anyone else had a simple fix like that? It could save us all a ton of frustration!

I had my screen freeze a few times and it was due to a hardware issue. Might want to check if your fuse is intact. It’s an easy fix if that’s the problem!

That’s a great tip, Monique! I did have to replace a fuse last year, so I’ll check that out. Thanks for pointing it out!

I just love when my screen decides to freeze when I need directions. It’s like my Chevy is playing a game with me! But seriously, have you noticed if it happens after using certain apps?
