Looking for Replacement Mirrors for My 2002 Chevy Silverado - Any Recommendations?

Seeking Feedback on Replacement Mirrors for a 2002 Chevy Silverado

I’m currently in the market for new mirrors for my 2002 Chevy Silverado. The old ones have seen better days, and I’m considering whether to go with OEM parts or explore some aftermarket options.

What I’m Looking For:

  • Compatibility: I want to ensure whatever I’ve ordered fits perfectly.
  • Quality: What are the best brands out there since durability is essential?
  • Price Range: Any thoughts on what I should expect to pay for decent replacements?
  • Installation: Would I be able to install these myself, or should I be looking for a professional?

Questions to Consider:

  1. OEM vs. Aftermarket: Have any of you compared both options? Was there a significant difference in performance or quality?
  2. Installation Tips: If you’ve done the replacement yourself, any advice on tools or specific steps to be aware of?
  3. Where to Buy: Besides your local auto parts store, are there online retailers you trust that have good deals?

Personal Experience:

So far, I’ve done some online research, but it feels overwhelming with all the choices out there. I want to avoid any parts that might not hold up or require constant adjustments. A few friends suggested some brands, but I’d love to hear from the community about their experiences too.

I appreciate any feedback or reviews you might share about the mirrors you’ve used or any stores you recommend. Thanks in advance for your help!

I just replaced my mirrors with OEM parts—definitely worth it for the seamless fit! No issues at all with compatibility.

I’ve had great luck with aftermarket mirrors too! They fit okay, but there’s a bit of vibration at high speeds. Still, they were cheaper.

I recommend checking into brands like Dorman and Replace. They have decent aftermarket mirrors with good reviews.

I second that! Dorman mirrors fit my Silverado perfectly, plus they’re reasonably priced.

I tried an aftermarket mirror and had alignment issues. I wouldn’t recommend going that route unless you want to fiddle with adjustments constantly!

Sorry to hear that! Did you try any aftermarket brands, or just one?

I had no luck with an aftermarket mirror from Amazon—total disaster. OEMs are definitely more reliable.

Wow, I was considering Amazon. Are they a common problem for others too?

I went with a cheap aftermarket option and overheated it in the sun. Now it’s all warped! Lesson learned: you get what you pay for.

Ha! That’s unfortunate, but at least you got a story out of it! What brand was it?

I’ve heard mixed things about aftermarket mirrors too. It especially seems to depend on the brand.

Exactly! I think it’s crucial to read reviews before making a choice.

I’ve successfully used a couple of aftermarket options, but only from trustworthy retailers. Fitment can be a gamble otherwise.

So true! That’s why I always check forums like this one before buying.

Honestly, I think aftermarket mirrors can work, but they might not be worth the hassle. OEM is guaranteed fitment every time.

Right? Sometimes you just want to avoid the stress and get the OEM ones right away!

I recently replaced my mirrors with aftermarket ones from Dorman. The installation took about an hour. Just make sure to have a socket wrench and electrical tape handy.

Did you have to adjust the mirrors after installing them? I’m curious about how well the settings hold.

I went with a set from Replace and it wasn’t too tough. Just watch out for those pesky plastic clips—they can be a challenge to pop off without breaking!
